As we approach the active months of our Hurricane season, and the Hurricane Dance approaches, be aware of several changes that will be blowing through GULF this year ... For the past two years we have had the honor and privilege in knowing and working with Sherry, our DJ with eskaymusic. As a DJ, I will tell you she has been the most professional lady we have had the good fortune to deal with. Her ability to read the crowd, switch music at a single beat, and meet the many individual requests, will be a most difficult step to follow.    

As we move forward in presenting all of you with music alternatives, try to be kind, and tolerant of those who will attempt to duplicate Sherry ... Whomever we are fortunate to obtain, they will need time to work with us, and time to know our own likes and dislikes. Sherry herself has offered to assist in the selection and will recommend some new DJs to us. ... 2009 looks like a year of new experiences, and something all of us are quite usde to dealing with ...   

GULF will continue to schedule six T-Dances a year, all of them at Waterside, to be held  on Sunday afternoons from 1pm to 5pm. The doors will open at 12;30. Be aware that our standard luncheon,snacks, door prizes, and our Raffle will remain intact. We will continue to schedule events each month, with a mix of dances, potlucks, picnics,and dinners out. A major focus will be in place for all our potlucks and dances, to be strictly ... FOR WOMEN ONLY. Other events will allow the free flow of a FAMILY FRIENDLY atmosphere, such as Picnics, Evening Under The Stars... Alert statements will be attached to all the flyers. This way, no one is surprised by the attendance, and comes knowing what to expect. GULF feels that all Potlucks and T-Dances must remain a safe place for women to gather, therefore, they will remain open to WOMEN ONLY... GULF will continue to supply any host of a potluck with $25 dollars cash back towards their own paper products supply fund.  Some activities are supported, sponsored, and not presented by GULF, we are trying to provide an activity each month for all women, having choices is a good thing.

Look for advanced scheduling about GULF's 2009 events soon. This will be listed on our events page or just follow our web site - www.gulfwomyn.com. GULF is here to share information and stay actively involved with our community of women. We also  provide additional support to designated charities. It is the continued support that you all have shown us, that gives us the success we have seen in meeting the needs of our designated charities -- Battered Women's Shelters, Hospice,American Heart Association, Cancer Research, Paws, No kill Animal Shelter, the Humane Society, and Toys 4 Tots,these have all benefited through your giving hearts.

GULF thanks each and everyone of you for your support of our T-Dances. Without those funds we could not reach out as we do.

GULF continues its affiliation with ProSuzy, and reaps the full benefit of being adopted. Our dance and potluck attendance have definitely grown. The last potluck at Judy&Louise,s home saw over 50 women attending and lots of food selections for everyone. Even though we were unable to attend, we heard how much fun was had by many -- a great job ladies!

In closing, we thank Amy our webmaster, she has done a wonderful job in keeping GULF out there for all womyns' use, and I say this in a positive way. I thank Waterside also, it is my understanding that they are working on improving and upgrading the female bathrooms, something we surely needed. Finally, for all of the womyn who have supported the efforts of GULF, we gratefully thank each and everyone of you -- without you, we do not exist... Committee members of GULF.
